RAF Historical Society Autumn Seminar: The RAF in Oman

On Wednesday 15 October 2025, the RAF Historical Society will be considering the legacy of the RAF in Oman.

 

Air Chief Marshal Sir Glen Torpy will chair a wide-ranging seminar tracing the involvement of the RAF in Oman since the late 1920s, when a reinforcement route along the southern coast of Arabia was established. Activity during the Second World War and post-war period will be covered, followed by a study of the air and ground operations during the Dhofar War, including the important role played by helicopters. The RAF’s involvement in the establishment of the Royal Air Force of Oman will also be described together with more recent operational activities including support to military  operations and exercises. An officer who has recently returned from an appointment at the Oman Staff College will reflect on his time and experiences in this fascinating and important country.

 

Cost includes coffee and tea (from 10am) and a finger buffet lunch.
